Against The Grain can make a successful first step into handicap company in the John Smith's Redcar Straight-Mile Championship (Qualifier) at Redcar on Tuesday.

Although the field was not the best there was plenty to like about Against The Grain's performance as he decimated his opposition, travelling well before pulling away two furlongs out.

He should certainly come on for that experience and although Mark Johnston's horses have not all been sparkling, Against The Grain is obviously in good heart.

The Namid filly struggled to go the early pace that day but she started to get the hang of things with about two furlongs to go before staying on well at the finish.
