Electrical retailer DSG International has sold its 60% majority stake in The Link mobile phone store chain to O2 for around £30m in cash, adding to the mobile group's existing 40% interest.

Dixons owner, DSG, will receive a fee for helping O2, owned by Spain's Telefonica, manage the 300 stores for a transitional period. The deal is expected to complete within four months.

Under the terms of the agreement, DSG will receive certain ongoing billing revenues until 31 December 2007 and will retain the Linkplan insurance business.

DSG boss John Clare said, "We believe that it is now the appropriate time to divest our interest in The Link, as we intensify our focus on our core market-leading operations in multi-channel electricals and computing retailing across Europe."
